Valve has launched a new tool on the Steam Store that lets users check the Steam Deck compatibility ratings of each game in their library.
The Steam Deck is due to launch later this week, and Valve wants to ensure owners will be able to clearly see what sort of experience they’ll get when they start digging into their library on the portable device.
There are four categories of Deck compatibility — Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown (as shown below) — that describe varying levels of performance ranging from “works great […] right out of the box” to “not functional on Steam Deck.”
Valve said it has been “testing more titles that ever before” to dish out as many compatibility ratings as possible, but reiterated the process is “ongoing.”
“We’re testing new titles constantly and are going to continue past launch,” said the company. “The Steam back catalog is huge, and new titles are releasing every day — just because we haven’t tested a game yet doesn’t mean it doesn’t work well on Deck already. You’re able to install any titles in your library, regardless of compatibility rating.”
Anyone looking to check the compatibility rating of their Steam library will need to visit the new “My Games” page and sign in to Steam. Valve is encouraging users to check back often for updates as it continues to test more titles.
